Sarkozy takes French presidency

Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy has won the hotly-contested French presidential election, according to projections made from partial results.
Mr Sarkozy is estimated to have won 53% of the vote, compared with 47% for socialist Segolene Royal.

The turnout was the highest for more than two decades, at about 85%.

The Truth About the Talmud

Introduction
The Talmud is Judaism’s holiest book (actually a collection of books). Its authority takes precedence over the Old Testament in Judaism. Evidence of this may be found in the Talmud itself, Erubin 21b (Soncino edition): “My son, be more careful in the observance of the words of the Scribes than in the words of the Torah (Old Testament).”

Islam Was Spread By The Sword

IT IS a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force.
The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.

1. Islam means peace.

Islam comes from the root word ‘salaam’, which means peace. It also means submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). Thus Islam is a religion of peace, which is acquired by submitting one’s will to the will of the Supreme Creator, Allah (swt).

Is there anti-Semitism in the Qur’an?

Q 1. I am a Jew and I am reading the Qur’an. I find that the Qur’an is very harsh in its criticism of the Jewish people. For example in chapter 5:60-64 I see that Jewish people are called as those whom Allah has cursed, is angry with them and has turned them into apes and swine. This is very offensive and sounds outright anti-Semitic. How do you explain this? I shall appreciate an answer from you.

A Statistical Analysis of the Holy Qur’an

This investigation aims at identifying numerical pattern(s) of number of verses (ayas) in different chapters (suras) of the Quran using statistical analysis. It includes the mean, mode [1], median [2], range [3], standard deviation (SD) [4], and relative standard deviation (RSD) [5]. The study uses three different methods of grouping Qur’anic chapters. The tables and figures in this study also provide useful information about the structure of the Qur’an.

Muslims and the Necessity of Knowledge of Non-Muslim Scriptures

Should Muslims have knowledge of Jewish and Christian scriptures? This important question was the subject of a recent poll on this website. The voter was asked to choose whether “for the Muslim, knowledge of Jewish and Christian scriptures is”: “Necessary,” “Useful,” “Useless,” or “Bad,” or that he “did not know”.
