“The Islamic Human Rights Commission was set up in 1997. We are an independent, not-for-profit, campaign, research and advocacy organization based in London, UK. We foster links and work in partnership with different organizations from Muslim and non-Muslim backgrounds, to campaign for justice for all peoples regardless of their racial, confessional or political background.

Our aims are manifold, and our inspiration derives from the Qur’anic injunctions that command believers to rise up in defence of the oppressed. IHRC volunteers and campaigners come from many different parts of the world and many different backgrounds to share in the common struggle against injustice and oppression. Our work includes submitting reports to governments and international organizations, writing articles, monitoring the media, cataloguing war crimes, producing research papers, organizing vigils, taking on discrimination cases and so on.Aside from our countries index we have a number of country specific projects and research areas e.g. Central Asia, Mauritius, Turkey, Palestine and Nigeria.

Our issue related work includes researching war crimes, campaigning for prisoners of faith and other prisoners held for their beliefs, campaigning against religious discrimination and persecution, as well as many other issues in and across areas as far a field as the UK to China, Bosnia to Papua New Guinea , Europe to the United States of America and South Africa.

Aims & Objectives

In the name of Al-laah, The-Source-Of-Mercy, The-Especially-Merciful. The aims of

the Islamic Human Rights Commission are:

1. To champion the rights & duties revealed for human beings. 2. To promote a new social & international order, based on truth, justice, righteousness & generosity, rather than selfish interest.

3. To demand virtue & oppose wrongdoing in the exercise of power (from whatever base that power derives - e.g. political, judicial, media, economic, military, personal, etc.).

4. To gather information about, & to publicise, atrocities, oppression, discrimination, & other abuses of divinely-granted rights.

5. To campaign for redress, & to support the victims, of such crimes.

6. To campaign to bring the perpetrators & their accomplices to justice.

7. To cooperate with other groups & individuals where such cooperation is likely to further the achievement of these aims. “

    Thank you Stefan. Can I also ask you to consider to split ‘Favorites’ into two different sections as ‘Favorites’ and ‘Different Voices’, since “Apostasy and Islam” and “Muslims Against Sharia” HAVE different voices than Islam in the Qur’an?

    Since I have embraced Islam, I have seen what violation of human rights in the United States is like, but I cannot speak about other parts of the globe. I know what it is like to be threatened, assaulted, and verbally and orally assaulted when word gets out to neighboring Christians that I am a Muslim. I also know what it is like to be poor, disabled, and homeless, all at the same time. In fact, I know what it’s like to be without food or sufficient clothing for long periods of time after reaching out to family, friends, fellow Muslims, community organizations, etc. for help. I also know the loneliness and Christmas Blues that come from not having friends and family surrounding me while everyone else does, even though I don’t celebrate Christmas.

    On the bright side of things, thanks to those many brothers and sisters who sent me booklets, brochures, and Qur’ans in English and Spanish to share with people in the Pomona and San Gabiel Valleys, California, I have witnessed many people embrace Islam. It brings me great joy, al-hamdu li-llah, in being an instrument in the hands of Allah. I am grateful to my brother in Islam from West Covina who taught me to pray (I’m still learning) and provided me with a rug to pray on when I’m traveling. The joy that comes from dawah by living the gospel (good news) of Islam compensates for all the material/worldly lack and violations committed against me for being a Muslim and against my wife for being married to a Muslim.
